Saddlebrook

Located north and west of 144th and Fort Streets, Saddlebrook has become one of Omaha’s more popular developments.  Noted for its beautiful, newer homes, it also attracts homeowners because of  its  unique school/library/community center. Nowhere else in Omaha will you find these three community services housed in one structure, separated but cooperating and sharing facilities.

Saddlebrook Elementary School is a part of the Omaha Public School system with classes for Pre-K through the fifth grade.   Class schedules coincide with the OPS calendar and students have use of the school’s library and certain sections of the public library during this time.  They also have pre-arranged times to use their own gym and the larger community center’s facility.

The Saddlebrook Community Center, which is administered by the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department, is open for programs serving the entire community, usually from morning through 8 pm in the evening.  Seniors use the indoor walking track and fitness/cardio exercise room; after school the Rec’s Kids Club uses the gym for two hours allowing school kids to enjoy sports and organized physical activities supervised by the Center’s staff; and there are classes for yoga, dance, crafts, and gymnastics throughout most days.  The center is always busy, as is the public library.

The Saddlebrook Homeowners Association actively promotes safety, covenant compliance, and beautification of the development.  It meets monthly in the Community Library Board Room.

Shopping centers with restaurants, shops, and service entities are found along Fort Street and 144th Street, with new stores and offices opening in the area as the population grows.  Outdoor recreation is also near with walking and biking trails, golf courses, parks and green spaces, and access to Standing Bear Lake.   Churches, some with excellent parochial schools, are also in close proximity.

A sense of community along with these options and amenities has allowed the neighborhood to become a magnet for families and empty nesters.  Roomy, moderately priced family homes and maintenance free villas now attract both markets.  Saddlebrook, with its School/ Community Center/Library has this community involved and moving!
